Consulting with a divorce attorney is not something most people want to experience.  You don’t know what to expect or what information you need to provide. This is a terrifying and stressful time for you and, you want the assistance of someone with the knowledge and experience to guide you, but also won’t take advantage of you.

You are also paying for this session and you want to get the most out of it. Here are some things you can expect at the session and ways to maximize the experience.

Making The Appointment

Joleena Louis Law makes it as easy as possible to schedule your Case Strategy Session. You can start by contacting the office at 646-568-5834, emailing us at info@joleenalouislaw.com, or scheduling directly online. You will get a link to our scheduler and have the ability to choose the available date and time that works for you and pay the consultation fee.

Quick Tips:

  • Be sure to include the name of the other party for the conflict check. This will save you from having the appointment canceled later due to a conflict.

  • Include as much background info about your case as possible. Specifically, 1) Basic background (Length of marriage, number of children, income, & assets   2) Primary issues in the case 3) Any agreements, court orders, or 4) Your ideal outcome

  • Upload any related agreements or court documents

The Case Strategy Sessions

A Case Strategy Session with Joleena Louis Law is designed to help you walk away with information and options. How efficiently we can accomplish this is dependent on how much information you provide in advance so we can spend more time on the strategy instead of collecting background info.

Here is what will happen:  1) Attorney will get background info from you. Again, if you provide this in advance we can spend more time on strategy. 2) Attorney will explain the legal process and how the law applies to your specific issues. 3) Attorney will go over your options and best strategy 4) Attorney will discuss the process and steps for retaining the firm (including fees)  & answer any additional questions.

Quick Tips:

  • Please be on time for your session. Most likely there is another appointment after yours or the attorney may have court, so if you are late you will lose out on your scheduled time. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice will not be refunded.

  • Though these sessions can feel very therapeutic, keep in mind they are not a therapy session. If you want time to learn your options, please try to be succinct and provide as much info in advance as you can to have maximum time to strategize.

  • Please note that Joleena Louis Law only accepts a limited number of cases at a time and having a case strategy session does not guarantee the firm will accept your case. This is a two-way interview- to make sure Joleena Louis Law is a good fit for you and you are a good fit for the firm.

  • Not ready to hire a lawyer? That’s ok! Joleena love’s to help people learn their options even if they are not ready to make a decision.

What You Can Expect Throughout The Process

Here are some things you can expect throughout the process:

  • Confidentiality- Your case strategy session is a legal consultation and you can expect confidentially throughout. Please note that if you are having a phone or Zoom session, please ensure you are in a place where you can speak in privacy.

  • Honesty- You can expect complete honesty about your situation. It can be easy for some lawyers to tell you what you want to hear in order to get your business, but at Joleena Louis Law we don’t find that to be helpful. You will be able to make better decisions about your case if you know the truth about possible outcomes.

  • Experience & Professionalism- Joleena Louis Law is exclusively a divorce and family law practice and Joleena Louis is highly experienced in the area. She knows the law, knows the system, and she is familiar with the local courts and judges.
